Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing is central to learning. We strive to ensure every student feels safe, included, and ready to engage in their education. Whether a student needs support with their mental, emotional, social or physical wellbeing, our programs and services help them grow, develop resilience and succeed both at school and beyond.
The department is committed to creating quality learning opportunities for children and young people. These opportunities support wellbeing through positive and respectful relationships and fostering a sense of belonging to the school and community.
The Wellbeing Framework for Schools helps schools support the cognitive, physical, social, emotional and spiritual development of students and allows them to connect, succeed and thrive throughout their education.
How we support student wellbeing
At Georges River College, Oatley Senior Campus, we prioritise the mental, emotional, social and physical wellbeing of every student. We aim to support students in developing personal growth that fosters resilience, confidence, self-efficacy, health and wellbeing—skills that empower them to engage with learning, achieve their goals and thrive in all aspects of life.
Our school is guided by three core values—Respect, Responsibility, and Aiming for Excellence. These are embedded in the GRC Way, which outlines how students and staff apply these values daily, term by term, and year by year.
The Student Wellbeing Team at Oatley manages a wide range of services to ensure every student receives the support they need, including:
- Designated Head Teacher Wellbeing and Deputy Principals for Year 11 and Year 12
- A student Support Officer who plays a key role in supporting students’ learning, wellbeing and participation at school.
- Youth Workers who work closely with students, families and support agencies
- Two School Counsellors available Monday to Friday
- Eight Student Advisers
- Full-time Careers Adviser and Transition Adviser
- School-Based Apprentice and Trainee (SBAT) Coordinator
Our wellbeing programs are designed to support students academically, socially, and personally and include:
-
