Additional learning support
At our school, every student is supported to be ready and confident to learn. We provide assistance for students with disability or additional learning needs, ensuring they can fully participate in all aspects of school life. Support is available at any stage, and a formal diagnosis is not required to access tailored programs within a mainstream classroom.
Stage 6 Support Tailored to Your Student
At Oatley Senior Campus, we recognise that some Stage 6 students may need extra support to feel confident and achieve their best. We work closely with families to co-design learning support plans and adjustments tailored to each student’s needs.
Additional learning support may include:
- Collaboration between teachers, support staff, students, and families
- Specialist support for students learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D)
- Tailored programs for high potential and gifted students to extend advanced learning
- Small group tutoring for targeted literacy and numeracy support
- Regular check-ins to review and update planned supports
Classroom adjustments may include:
- Accessible classrooms and assistive technology
- Instructional resources or modified lesson content
- Extra guidance or differentiated focus during lessons
Assessment adjustments may include:
- learning disability may use reader or writer
- medical disability may access toilet breaks or use adapted furniture
- vision disability may use braille or large-print papers
- hearing disability may use an oral or sign interpreter.
We identify students who may need support through teacher observations, assessment results and parental input. All adjustments are planned collaboratively with families, regularly reviewed and adapted as needed.
If you believe your student may benefit from additional support in Stage 6, please contact us to discuss how we can help.
