Our policies and reports
Our rules and policies are designed to create a safe, supportive, and positive environment where every student can learn, grow, and thrive.
Behaviour Expectations
At our school, we promote a culture of respect, responsibility, and integrity. Students are encouraged to make positive choices, treat others with kindness, and take ownership of their learning and actions. Clear expectations and consistent support help create a safe, inclusive, and productive environment where every student can thrive.
Attendance and absences
Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.
In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent.
Young people below the age of 17 who have completed Year 10 must be:
- in school, or registered for home schooling
- in approved education or training, such as a traineeship, apprenticeship or TAFE
- in full-time paid employment (average 25 hours a week)
- in a combination of work, education and/or training (average of 25 hours a week combined).
Students 17 years and over who are enrolled in school must attend school regularly to meet HSC course requirements.
As a parent or carer, you are responsible for ensuring your child attends school every day when they are of compulsory school age. You must explain all absences to the school within 7 days.

Mobile phone policy
"Off and Away" - We encourage students to be fully present and engaged in their learning. Our mobile phone policy supports a focused, respectful and distraction-free environment where students can connect meaningfully with their peers and teachers. By limiting phone use during school hours, we promote positive social interactions, improved concentration and a stronger sense of wellbeing.
Uniform policy
We value professional dress and appearance. We are a uniform school. We advise all parents and students to learn more about our Uniform Requirements to ensure they are ready to attend Oatley Senior Campus.
Bring your own device (BYOD)
BYOD refers to students bringing a computer technology device, owned by a student or the student’s family, to the school for the purpose of learning. The device must be able to connect to the school’s wireless internet and have certain programs or applications installed. To ensure that students can get the best learning opportunities at school and at home, the device they bring to school should have the minimum specifications listed below. If you will be purchasing a device in the near future it is recommend that the device have these specifications to enable students to make a successful connection to the school wireless network.
Social Media
We recognise the positive role social media can play in communication, collaboration and learning. The DoE social media policy promotes the safe, responsible and respectful use of online platforms by students, staff and families. We encourage digital citizenship by teaching students to use technology ethically, protect their privacy and represent themselves and the school community with integrity online.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.
School planning and reporting
Planning and reporting at Georges River College Oatley Senior Campus are integral to meeting the needs of our community, enhancing the quality of teaching and improving outcomes for all students. Our commitment to continuous improvement drives our focus on excellence in teaching, learning and wellbeing. Through collaboration, we foster positive relationships and uphold the values of respect, responsibility and aiming for excellence in every aspect of school life. We strive to cultivate a culture that inspires students to become independent, lifelong learners who are active, informed citizens, equipped to embrace the challenges and opportunities of the future.
School Excellence Plan
We have developed a School Excellence Plan (SEP) in consultation with our community, identifying student outcomes and connected to a budget.
The School Excellence Framework (SEF) underpins our school planning and reporting approach. The framework provides a clear description of the key elements of high-quality practice across learning, teaching and leading.
The SEP is a working document that details the steps our school will take to improve learning outcomes, and the achievement and growth of all students. To ensure continuous improvement, the SEP reflects where our school is at and how it will further improve learning, teaching and leading.
It demonstrates our alignment and our commitment to excellence as part of public education in NSW to ensure a profound difference to the ongoing growth and development of our students.
Our 3 Strategic directions are:
Strategic direction 1 - Student Growth and Attainment
Our purpose is to enable student growth in their learning through explicit, consistent and evidence-based teaching. Our teachers will evaluate their effectiveness and reflectively adapt their practice through quality, targeted professional learning and use of student internal and external assessment data to inform teaching.
Strategic direction 2 - Positive culture for learning
Our purpose is to develop a positive, inclusive culture for learning across the school which fosters responsible citizens that are successful learners who are known, valued and cared for and are proactive members of our community.
Strategic direction 3 - Inclusion, Connection and Attainment
Our purpose is to ensure that our community connects, succeeds and thrives through developing positive and respectful relationships that foster social, emotional, behavioural and intellectual engagement. Our teachers will use collaborative strategies to develop inclusive programs that promote a supportive environment across the whole school community to ensure that all students are known, valued and cared for.
