At our school, student recognition celebrates the achievements, effort, and personal growth of every learner. We acknowledge excellence across academics, sports, creative pursuits, leadership, and community involvement, highlighting the diverse talents and contributions of our students. Recognition not only rewards hard work but also inspires all students to strive for their personal best, fostering a positive and supportive school culture where every success is valued.

Major awards

Creative and Performing Arts Award
This award recognises outstanding academic & creative achievement & commitment to the Creative and Performing Arts at GRC Oatley Senior Campus.
Vocational Student of the Year
This award recognises student excellence in a vocational field through work placement, work readiness, involvement in a vocational activity or through the development of other work, enterprise or employability skills.
ANSTO Award
The Australian Nuclear Science & Technology Organisation medal is awarded to the student who displays outstanding aptitude & interest in science both inside the classroom and in the community.
Special Education Excellence Award
The Special Education Excellence Award is presented to a student who has demonstrated commitment to learning & displays examples of GRC Oatley Senior Campus values.
GRC Oatley Senior Campus Resilience Award
This award acknowledges students who have faced adversity while at school and yet have managed to complete their HSC with courage & dignity despite personal hardship or difficulty.
Terry O’Brien Foundation Principal Award
This award is presented to a student who best displays examples of GRC Oatley Senior Campus values: Respect, Responsibility & Aiming for Excellence.
Premier’s Sporting Challenge Medallion
This award acknowledges a student who has consistently displayed commitment to fair play, demonstrated effort and improved performance in their sporting discipline and contributed to their school’s sporting and physical activity programs.
The Australian Olympic Change-Maker Award
This award recognises and rewards students who demonstrate the Olympic Spirit through sport & leadership, driving positive change in their communities.
State MP Citizenship & Leadership Award
This award recognises a student who consistently exemplifies the school's core values and demonstrates a strong work ethic.
Commonwealth Parliamentarian’s Distinguished Achievement Award
This award is presented to a student who has demonstrated an exceptional level of community involvement and outstanding academic achievement.
Commonwealth Parliamentarian’s Merit Award
This award is presented to a student who has excelled in at least one of the following five areas: Academic achievement, Leadership, Sport, The Arts and / or Community Involvement
Australian Defence Force Long Tan Award
This award recognises students who demonstrate leadership & teamwork within both the school and the broader community and who display strong values such as doing one’s best, respect for others and mateship that are integral to Australian society.
Australian Defence Force Future Innovators Award
This award recognises student achievement in innovation and motivation in taking on science, technology, engineering & mathematic abilities. The award highlights the value the Navy, Army and Air Force place on STEM skills and STEM career opportunities within Defence.
Reuben F Scarf Award
Reuben F Scarf believed that with hard work, common sense & purpose, all goals were achievable. This award recognises and honours consistent effort & desire to improve.
Ampol Best All Rounder Award
The Ampol Best All Rounder Award celebrates Australia’s leaders of tomorrow. The award recognises final year students that demonstrate qualities such as leadership, service and community, sport, arts & personal conduct.
Honour Blue Award
The Honour Blue Awards at GRC Oatley Senior Campus celebrate students who demonstrate excellence across a range of areas. These awards recognise outstanding achievements in sports, leadership, and academics, honouring individuals who contribute positively to the school community, inspiring their peers through dedication, resilience, and a commitment to personal growth.
Academic Excellence Award
This award is presented to the student with the second-highest academic achievement, recognising dedication, effort, and excellence across their studies.
GRC Oatley Senior Campus Principal’s Award
This award is given to a student at GRC Oatley Senior Campus who, during their time, has consistently displayed GRC’s core values, demonstrated outstanding academic achievements, acted as an exemplary ambassador for the school and made substantial contributions to the school in areas such as leadership, sport or creative arts.
GRC Oatley Senior Campus School Dux
The Dux award is presented to the student who achieves the highest overall academic results across all subjects within a school year. It recognises exceptional dedication, consistent effort, and outstanding performance, showcasing the recipient's commitment to academic excellence.

Prefecture

Prefecture is the highest student leadership honour at our school, recognising students who demonstrate exceptional commitment, responsibility and service to the school community.

Students become eligible to apply for Prefecture after reaching the Platinum level in the merit award system or may be invited to apply upon achieving the Gold level, reflecting consistent effort, leadership and positive engagement across academics, wellbeing and school life. Successful applicants are formally recognised at the Year 12 Graduation Ceremony, where this prestigious honour is announced.

Given our cohort size of around 400 students per year, it is impossible to select only a small number. This process ensures that all students have the opportunity to graduate as Prefects and be recognised for their contribution, provided they actively and productively engage in school life.
